I completely forgot!

To post pictures of these!

I've been so busy between schoolwork, actual work, and hard family times to get anything done! These buttons are ok. They're actually quite sharp on the ends. I expected a bit of a better quality item, but at least they look ok. And! I don't have to stress about doing something extra for an additional leave behind. Especially at this point.

Leave Behinds Ordered!

Monday, November 9, 2009

I ordered some buttons to use as back-up leave behinds! yaaaay! I'm still going to attempt the thumb drive thing though. I noticed that its much thinner than your standard USB. Grant told me about some new ultra thin USB's that you can purchase online. Since they're new they're probably expensive. So I'm going to go with a memory card. Although not all computers have memory card readers its the best I have access to right now. So we'll see. I also have to figure out how to attach the pop-out to the paper and also to the memorycard. This is going to be a nightmare project I just know it. >.<

Leave Behinds!

Thursday, October 29, 2009

I stumbled upon this image randomly surfing the net!

Its a letter that contains a pop out USB drive inset in recycled cardstock paper. It gave me a interesting idea. Having a set up like this and a flash drive with your work on it. I think its pretty creative. 1gig flashdrives arn't very expensive now a days, so I could probalby tear one apart. Its going to be a pain in the butt though. To actually make it myself. Getting that paper inset as a popout with the flash drive in it. Hurm.... Well, at least its an idea thinking outside the box.

This on the other hand is my fall back! I found a site that will allow me to buy just 1 if I want! I can't tell you how long it took to find one. Who knows maybe I'll attempt both. Order these now and attempt the other one later! And the Demo Reel shot list breakdown will be coming soon. Havn't had a chance to work on that yet.

Leave Behind Ideas

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

So I've been pondering this concept of a leave behind for the past quarter. I have researched many of my ideas such as custom printed memo pads, laser cut keychains, and pens. Problem is everywhere I find that offers custom printing of these things has a minimum supply of 250 and a set up charge. So I'm paying about 300 bucks for a prototype leave behind for my class. Yes...very frustrating. I now understand why students prior to me chose the leave behinds they did. Looks like I have much more looking around to do.

Reel Features

Friday, October 23, 2009

So for today I am to have 4 things that I am going to integrate into my reel.

Mech Test from Tori Carroll on Vimeo.

PosiTori.com from Tori Carroll on Vimeo.

And the video I posted a few posts ago. Blogger takes forever to upload videos and Vimeo has a ridiculous waiting time. I'll re-edit this once my wait time is up. Ridiculous thing. Always wanting the payment upgrades. Along with these I have here I also plan to use other things from previous reels. and i'll probably include some mech tests I've done at work.

Reviewing Reels

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

So since I have now transitioned to the demo reel class I thought it would be beneficial to show past reels. I have made reels starting in 2007. I think its nice to be able to see the progress through the years. And after these 11 weeks I will have a new for 2009 reel. I'm actually happy to finally get an updated version and take out some of that filler stuff.

2007:

Animation Show Reel from Tori Carroll on Vimeo.

2008:

Show Reel from Tori Carroll on Vimeo.

For this class we can't have any lyrics in the song we choose for our demo. This makes me sad because I absolutely love the song I chose for my last reel. I feel it fits my pacing and complements my pieces perfectly. But I'm not going to argue. Just because I like the song doesn't mean someone else will.

Thats all for this week!

Demo Reel Production!

Monday, September 21, 2009

For my demo reel production class I decided to base it on my illustrations. Which I did 3 of them this quarter, then add some motion graphic-ness to them and a logo (teacher insisted on the logo)
Here is a preview:

Once I started making these shorts to put in my demo reel...I realized exactly what my teacher was talking about. The logo kind of gives the piece purpose. This one took the least amount of time and I think it just might be my favorite of the bunch. I'm pretty happy with the simplicity of it.

New site is a go!

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Website is one serious upgrade from before. I'm actually very please with the outcome. My newest piece actually looks very nice on my site. Check it out here: www.positori.com

Sent off business cards...a friend is printing them, so they should be done in a few days. And Staples looks like my best bet for portfolio prints. Pics soon!

Back from Dragoncon!

Monday, September 14, 2009

Dragon*Con 2009 was epically awesome this year! I had such a blast. So I decided to start sewing my costume 3 days before departure. I know! What was I thinking! procrastinator. anyway. I finished it a few hours before we left. My first time putting it all on together was at the con! Didn't matter, Jedi Barbie was fantastic! It really did have a good response, most likely due to my fantastic Pink Lightsaber! I even ended up on MAXIM.com! How Awesome! I've already started planning for next year. But the first 3 months after DCon I always feel so inspired. Anyway! pictures!

Here you can see my Jedi Barbie Pinkness of my lightsaber! Thank you grant for your excellent modding skills

This was screen capped from Maxim.com. You can visit the actual page here: http://www.maxim.com/girls/girls-of-maxim/84060/girls-dragon-con-part-1.html?p=4

Anyway! Back to Portfolio work! I did manage to squeeze in another flatbook page! This is a pic I'm working on for my Demo Class. I plan on animating some elements of it and adding some motion graphics to it.

I'm actually quite proud of this one. I think its my first time actually coloring and constructing a frontal face in flash! I think it came out great! These years at Artix are really refining my skills.

Website Layouts

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Essentially these are 2 website layouts that I've come up with. I think I'm more-so leaning towards the top one. I think its more cohesive to my branding. Basically the home page will have a script that shows my twitter posts instead of having an updates section on my homepage.
More still to come. I'm a bit behind since I've been sick these past 2 weeks. The antibiotics prescribed to me made me more sick than the virus in the first place.

More Pages!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

More Pages for the flatbook. Might not use the cutesy animals...but if I decide to they'll be in the back of the book. There are a few projects that I have to re-shoot/re-image in the psd files. (I only grabbed the jpegs for class this morning) So I have a few things I need to find and take care of. Looks like my portfolio is going to be geared toward illustration. I'll probably have a book of about 20 something pages. Having the smaller size means my prints will cost less. ^^

Flatbook Dump!

Monday, August 10, 2009

Here are a few pages that I've put together for my print portfolio. These are all recent works that have been done this year. I probably won't be putting in hardy anything I've done at school. Most likely only my graphite drawings will make the cut. Anyway, these are all portrait...and these are the landscape!

All of these are new with the exception of the sketchbook sketches. Those are a few years old, but I still like them :) And the MQ pages are also assets done by me. That means both the characters and BGs.

11x17 vs 11x14

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Not sure...I think I'm still leaning towards 11x14.

11x17 Flatbook Mock-Up

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

I composed a mock up of what my flatbook would look like with content. I think its a vast improvement from my current flatbook.

Design Updates!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

I took the feedback from class this morning and made some adjustments to my designs. I really think I have something strong going on for these templates. I decided to do a personal flatbook as apposed to my posiplush one. When it comes down to it I have far more content to promote myself than I do for my company. I'll save all that for the website portion of this class. I'm going to make some test prints of this layout and see how well they come out before I continue on this project. In case its not apparent enough. The top will be my business card Front to Back and the bottom will be my Flatbook for my final portfolio.

Stuff Dump

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

This is the Business Card I have chosen out of the 5 templates I've done. I'm not sure if I'm going to change my current name on the card to a PosiTori logo.

But I do like the pattern. Its been my thing for quite a while now. And I think the Orca goes well with the color. I love Orcas :)

My flatbook templates I've done for class are actually for my plush company: PosiPlush. Here is my logo I've come up with for the company:

And the flatbook templates:

Vectors

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Designs based on logo sketches. Still debating on which I prefer most.

I put them all on the same kind of background so I could get a real feel for each one and I happen to like this shade of PosiTori Pink! The colors might change over the course of editing. Flatbook and Buisness Card Templates still to come:

Logo Ideas for PosiTori

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Heres some PosiTori Logo Process. I was really trying to go with a plus sign as in Positive. But its challenging to try to make a plus sign mean something other than medic. You can see my thought process turned from storm clouds to batteries and eventually robots. lol. I don't know either. Anyway this is just round 1. I'm sure some of these would be more appealing if I actually made a vector version of them.
